Functions and Features

The LDC board is mainly used to achieve wavelength tunable and to provide OTN interfaces and ESC.

For detailed functions and features, see Table 1.

Basic function

The LDC board on the client side receives four types of signals, which are OTU4, 100GE, FC3200, and FC1600. The LDC converts signals as follows:

200G line:

  • 2 x OTU4 <-> 2 x ODU4 <-> 1 x ODUC2 <-> 1 x OTUC2
  • 2 x 100GE <-> 2 x ODU4 (Bit transparent mapping/MAC transparent mapping) <-> 1 x OTUC2

100GE: Ethernet service at a rate of 103.125 Gbit/s.

OTU4: OTN service at a rate of 111.81 Gbit/s

FC1600: SAN service at a rate of 14.025 Gbit/s

FC3200: SAN service at a rate of 28.05 Gbit/s

OTN function
  • Supports OTUC2 or OTU4 interfaces on the WDM side.
  • Uses the frame formats and overhead processing methods defined in ITU-T G.709.
  • At the ODU4 layer:
    • Supports PM overhead processing when 100GE services are received on the client side.
    • Supports PM and TCM overhead processing when OTU4 services are received on the client side. This board supports non-intrusive monitoring of PM and TCM overheads.
  • Supports PM overhead processing at the ODUflex layer.
  • Supports PM overhead processing at the ODUC2 layer.
  • Supports SM overhead processing at the OTU4 layer on the client side.
  • Supports SM overhead processing at the OTUC2 and OTU4 layer on the WDM side.
WDM specification

Supports ITU-T G.694.1-compliant DWDM specifications.

Tunable wavelength functionLDC supports tunable wavelength optical modules that provide for 96 wavelengths tunable in the extended C band with 50 GHz channel spacing.
ESC function

PRBS test functionSupports the PRBS function on both the client side and WDM side.
NOTE:
When only OTU4 services are received, the PRBS function is supported on the client side.

FEC coding

On the client side:

Supports Supports ITU-T G.709-compliant forward error correction (FEC) on the client side when the client-side service type is OTU4.

Supports RS_FEC coding when the client-side service type is 100GE or FC3200.

On the WDM side:

Supports SDFEC-R coding.

NOTE:
Boards that use different FEC modes cannot interconnect with each other.
Alarm and performance event monitoring
  • Monitors BIP8 bytes (Bursty mode) to help locate line failures.
  • Monitors OTN alarms and performance events.
  • Monitors parameters such as the bias current, temperature, and optical power of the laser.
  • Supports the remote monitoring (RMON) of Ethernet services.

  • Supports the monitoring of CD and PMD performance.
Regeneration board

The WDM-side signals from an LDC board can be regenerated only by another LDC board of the same type.

ALS function

Supports the ALS function on the client side when client services are non-OTN services.

Test frameSupported only when the client-side service type is 100GE.
Latency measurementSupports bidirectional latency measurement at the ODUC2 (WDM side), ODU4 (WDM side / client-side) or ODUflex (client-side) layer between two OTU boards and displays latency data on the NMS.

When OTU4 services are received on the client side, latency measurement is not supported.
